Employment ServicesEmployment Assistance:
* Establishing employment profile
** Filling out employment counseling survey form
Employment service station drawing made police at the scene of the crimeTrainees must fill out the application form in detail, especially those who are dependants of veterans, with the veteran's name, birth date, I.D. number. After being admitted into the program, trainees should also fill out forms given to them by the employment service station, stating their future plans, whether they will seek employment or start their own business, their previous work experience, special talents, expected job types, location and payment. It can facilitate following up by the employment service station.
** Filling out resumes for manpower bank
Bulletin board drawing made police at the scene of the crimeTrainees can fill out resume form on-line or a hard copy. To fill out the form on-line, trainees should have an e-mail account, otherwise the manpower bank would not be able to respond. If they prefer the hard copy, they can get it free from the center's employment service station. After filling out the form, they should mail it to the manpower bank. The manpower bank will notify the trainees if there were any appropriate opportunity.Trainees are free to choose either way.
* Providing information on employment
** Opening positions
** Job opportunities on the Web (including information from manpower banks)
Trainees are welcomed to use computers at the center or those in the Internet cafe near their dormitory.
* Aptitude test
Career aptitude tests use a series of questions about your interests, about your style of working, and how you interact with other people. Your answers can help us determine your skills and interests, and find a career field that matches them. It can also help you figure out your natural preferences and strengths. An assessment test cannot guarantee the perfect career, but it can be a wonderful tool to use to narrow down your choices or open up avenues you might never have thought to explore.
* Business recruiting on site
** The center sponsors two recruiting events by businesses, once in the first half of the year and the other in the second half of the year.
* Referral Service
** For our trainees, the end of the education is the beginning of a career. We place heavy emphasis on job placement, with assistance given to resume preparation, interviewing skills, and access to our growing network of contacts. We maintain strong relationships with various veteran service centers throughout the nation and stays informed of job openings in all areas of the industry and allied fields. New contacts are regularly established with veteran service centers using many effective resources such as direct mail to service centers as well as extensive networking with our professionals.Trainees can showcase their skills and work experience to prospective employers to find the best job opportunities. Please contact the service center for further assistance.
* Related Industries and Businesses Visiting
** Every term, different classes will arrange tours to related industries and businesses. This will help trainees' understand more about the nature of the job and experience interaction with related industries and businesses, so that employment guidance may be more effective.
* Follow-up on employment Survey
** Besides asking Veteran Service Centers for assistance, we also design an "employment survey card." This card is sent to trainees 1-2 months after they have completed training. All trainees are asked to cooperate in honestly filling out and return the survey card.
* Useful tips on job seeking
** Be modest and reserved, and treasure the job opportunity.
** Take a job first, and keep looking for a better one.
** Promote merits of the military, avoid disagreeable civilian practices.
** Improve professional skills according to your work needs.
** Write an interesting resume, promote yourself.
